Menswear for the ladies has long been on my short list of favorite looks; the art of balancing tomboy with just a few hints of femininity.
Simple, elegant, and effortless — my favorite combination. To balance out the look, my first go-to rule is playing with proportions. This striped shirt is a bit boxier than my usual preference, so I paired it with one of my most tailored blazers. The key is balance. You could also consider adding a belt at the waist to emphasize your silhouette.
Since I went for particularly business on top with a shirt buttoned all the way up, I kept the outfit fresh (and cooler!) by enlisting shorts. Normally when rocking menswear, one of my tricks is to incorporate a killer heel to add the perfect feminine edge. This time, since shorts were involved, silver oxfords felt more appropriate, especially since I was heading to the office.
I also tend to mix in a red or bright pink lip with my menswear, but changed it up this time with a coral/pink shade. And for one more touch of feminine, adding a few dainty rings was a must.
It’s going to be a busy weekend around here celebrating for the 4th! Well if you consider “busy” eating watermelon, attending BBQs, and sipping on some sort of festive cocktail. I also secretly love fireworks – no really, my adoration of them extends far past appropriate for my age.
