They joined the ranks as the new ‘it’ neutral.. but stripes didn’t really seem to work for me and my taste. I put them in the ‘trends-that-don’t-work-for-me’ box and wrote them off entirely. But after they hung around season after season, I finally caved and gave them a shot.
I did start slowly..a simple striped tee or accessory. The real allure for me was working stripes in to pair with other prints. So I mixed them in with my florals and plaids. And eventually, I even paired stripes with stripes, in varying scales and textures.
Of all the striped pieces in my closet, this dress in particular takes the typical stripe up to a new level. I love the varying degrees of stripes in different sizes and directions. Anything abstract feeling and my heart melts. Then you top it off with a great structured sleeve and wrapped asymmetrical hem? Now you’re just playing with my affections.
