Who says you have to get dressed to the nine’s for Valentine’s Day? What if you’re taking part in an activity that requires more movement than sitting pretty for dinner and drinks (hello romantic hikes and hot air balloon rides).
Consider a pretty yet practical approach! As much as I love to get dressed up, there are few things I dislike more than my clothing preventing me from taking part in an adventure of some kind. But just because you have to consider practicality doesn’t mean you’ll have to take the chicness out of the equation.
This striped tee is the just the right amount of red, especially when paired with a lip color in a similar shade. In my mind, red stripes always puts a French vibe into play, so I feel like I can never really go wrong with them. Coupled with a faux shearling jacket – this Anthropologie one sold out super fast, but there are similar ones here and here) – is just the right balance of femininity for my liking. It’s soft and cozy, but the moto jacket structure keeps it from being too girly for my taste.
Good ol’ classic denim is a pretty safe bet when you know you’re going to be at a casual outing – mine is always on the distressed side these days – and I love how the texture of distressed jeans plays against more feminine pieces. Adding in a chunky low heel with my favorite Frye booties allows a little polish to an otherwise understated outfit, and BONUS, I’m still able to cover plenty of ground since they’re so comfortable. Top it all off my trusty Le Specs (last seen here & here), and I’m left with a effortless look that’s festive for the holiday but casual enough to keep me comfortable all day.
Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends!
