A very happy Sunday to you all! Hope your weekends have each had a few silly, enjoyable, and relaxing moments. I attended an event yesterday alongside many of my fellow bloggers, and I always leave feeling incredibly motivated and inspired after being surrounded by a group of intelligent, creative, and insightful women. The day gave me plenty to ponder, and it also made me want to share with you a few of my reasons why I wanted to become part of the blogger community and why I do what I do here on Label Junkie.
1. When we as women feel we look good, we feel empowered.
My style has always been a very large piece of how I express myself, and at the times when I haven’t been able to dress like “me,” I didn’t feel like myself. Over time, I’ve learned what looks best on my body: There are tricks of the trade any woman can learn. I don’t care if you’re a size 26 or a 0, each of us is uniquely beautiful and deserves to feel so. We all have insecurities and parts of ourselves that we feel aren’t the most desirable attributes.
My hope is that we can highlight our best, come to accept that which isn’t our favorite, and feel the best we possibly can in our own skin. As such, I aim to provide as many useful tidbits as I can for you to implement into your own life. Are you wondering how best to style those new culottes? Or how to tackle denim on denim? How about looking for the best bridesmaid dresses under $100? Shoot me a email/comment/etc. and I’ll be happy to give you my spin!
2. There are so many things that I draw inspiration from – architecture, an old Hitchcock movie, traveling the world and experiencing other cultures – all of which shape who I am on a daily basis.
Label Junkie is a space to share with you all that inspires me regularly. When you leave a Label Junkie page, my goal is to make you feel more inspired than when you first began reading in some way, shape, or form. We’ve all been there. Sometimes it’s tough to find the kick in the pants you need to carry out a given task (or sometimes, just to get through the day). Whether it be starting that overdue chore or even rolling out of bed, I hope LJ can put a little pep in your step as you go merrily on your way.
3. If you’re stuck in a cubicle or at the airport, are listening to a boring conference call at work or are in line at a coffee shop, I want to give you something pretty to look at, make you laugh (if you haven’t noticed, I have a bit of a dry sense of humor) or entertain you in some other form with my musings.
This blog is more than sharing style tips. I’m excited to continue to this journey and branch out more into beauty, travel, and my many other passions. There are so many awesome projects in the works that I can’t wait to share with you guys – stay tuned!
On a style note, I have more than a slight obsession with rompers and jumpsuits. They’re versatile, comfortable, and in my experience, the girl in one is usually the coolest at the party. I tend to wear them in any situation where its socially acceptable (and even sometimes when it’s not).
