Who doesn’t want to feel special for date night? Whether there’s a new man in your life or your guy has been by your side for years, there’s no better time to up the special factor. And it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to look like a knockout.
In this particular edition of Label Junkie on a Budget every item is under $100. This is one of my favorite segments to do, because my definition of style has always been about working what you have. Your closet does not need to be full of expensive pieces to achieve amazingness. Anyone can dress wear head to toe Chanel and look stunning. But the art of mix and match to create your own unique take, well, that my friends, is style.
So let’s get down to this date night look! Zara has been an absolute gold mine lately! Anyone agree? This pleated maxi is a gorgeous shade of green – my favorite shade actually – not to mention that this version is slightly coated, giving it the perfect amount of sheen. The fabric is also quite a bit heavier than most, so it’s sure to keep you warm this winter. Once I had the skirt, I felt like putting the rest of the outfit together would be easy. I switched things up on top with this sleeveless wrap top. The little utilitarian touches are my favorite (note the shoulder detail), not to mention the creme colored fabric that lines the edges.
Nowadays there are so many statement necklaces out that look expensive but aren’t. Look to J.Crew, Baublebar, & Banana Republic for some of the nicest, well-made-but-won’t-break-the-bank versions. I’ve had this flowered statement necklace for at least a season or two now, and it’s one of my favorites. I’m really picky when it comes to my statement jewelry, so chances are, if I find something I like, I wear it often. If you’d like a similar one, Baublebar has a gorgeous one here.
I wanted to keep this look relatively simple, so a few black accessories were all I needed to top things off. My trusty black envelope clutch is always a good way to go, as are these Steve Madden strappy sandals. The sandals are probably the most worn shoes in my closet. The Stecy..Steve Madden broke the mold with these babies. They’re surprisingly comfortable for a minimalist sandal, not to mention that they go with everything.
PS. I also have some exciting news! Label Junkie is expanding in other a few of my other interests in February – home decor, a few new segments about making your life easier, with much more travel to boot! Don’t worry, there will still be plenty of style articles (2 a week), but so many of you have asked for more travel guides and home posts that it was due time to expand. Happy Wednesday!
