Midi skirts are my go-to when I’m searching for a quick fix of ladylike. A midi length is particularly versatile season after season, not to mention that the range of silhouettes means they’re flattering on just about every body type. And let’s not overlook the showstopping quality and inherent glam vibe an A-line midi brings to the table.
Midis are also the perfect solution for fall’s dipping temperatures, thanks to the longer hemline (sayonara freezing legs). I’ve even been known to tuck dresses into midi skirts on a pretty regular basis, providing plenty of options for mixing and matching in new ways (and a hidden extra layer when its especially cold).
This black Asos midi – last seen here – is a year-round staple in my closet because, frankly, it’s one of those glorious pieces that pairs with just about anything. Who doesn’t need more of those?? Sweaters, button-downs, a silk blouse..the options are endless depending on the occasion and the weather. I love pairing a graphic tee or an equally casual bodysuit on top with this skirt.
Another secret of mine is opting for a midi in one hue and then choosing a top in the same hue, just a shade or two darker or lighter, ala this Missguided situation. I’m a big fan of any monochromatic look this slight variation is so classic and polished.
I’ve been obsessing over so many satin midis this fall, the ones with the a slight bedroom-only vibe to them. Amongst my favorites are this pretty blush number, this sky blue stunner, and this plum version, each of them under $60. I can’t get over the thought of pairing one with a gorgeous, white chunky knit and some metallic minimalist sandals for date night or dinner with the girls.
